The band and I will be playing this month at Stadium Brewing Co, Mahe Dana Point, and a pre-Valentines’ Day bash at Casa Ranchero Cantina in Ladera Ranch.   Our recent debut at the Swallows’ Inn was a resounding success and we’ll soon be announcing more dates there, so stay tuned.

And in just a month’s time we’re making our debut at the newly renovated bar of the beautiful Laguna Cliffs Marriott, playing both Friday and Saturday nights March 4 & 5.

Happy Holidays

This year went pretty fast, but before it’s gone just want to take a moment to wish you and yours the very best of holidays, and to thank you for supporting the band and listening to the music.

We’ve had a number of highlights, from playing over 60 shows - including several in the UK and the Netherlands - to being selected to play at some medium size festivals like Taste of Ladera, the Coronado Speed Festival, and IPO festivals in LA, San Diego and Phoenix, to recieving press reviews and growing internet radio exposure, and the production of our first real music video.  We’re looking forward to releasing new original material in 2011 and continuing our growth as a band by doing what we love most, which is playing for you!

We have one last show in the South Orange County area tonight at Casa Ranchero Bar in Ladera Ranch - if you are in the area we hope you’ll join us.   Several fun events are coming up in January, so have a look at our schedule below.    Also, just a reminder that our latest CD ‘The Long Path’ makes a GREAT present as you can gift online through iTunes  :-)

Thanks again and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

Best,

Phil

p.s. - our new music video is now on YouTube for you to watch:  Philip Vandermost - “Turn Me Around”

Video News and more…

I’m excited to announce that we’re working on a professional music video to promote the song “Turn Me Around” from my new album, The Long Path, which is available on iTunes and several other outlets.  The video features footage recorded at Grandmaster Recorders Ltd. in Hollywood, where the album was recorded, and on location in South Africa.  As you may know, the song was written for the Acres of Love organization, which owns and operates homes for abandoned infants and children in South Africa.  It has been a goal to use my music to truly assist the cause and it looks as if this video may help make that happen!   Stay tuned for news about the premiere, and you can check out the song and purchase it by clicking on the music links attached to this email.

In anticipation of the video release, we’ve updated my YouTube page with several new live videos & i invite you to have a look, leave some feedback and share the link with friends to help spread the word.

A few shows coming up - this Monday Aug 23 I’ll be playing a solo show at Irvine Valley College as part of their student Welcome Day Event, in support of the band Adam’s Attic.  The show is sponsored by the good people at OC Rock Radio and KSBR-FM.   And on Friday Aug 27, I’ll be back at Skosh Monahan’s in Costa Mesa.

Also looking forward to playing several gigs with my band next month, including a spot on the 2010 Coronado Speed Festival lineup.  Much more to come.

You can help by posting this news and/or my music to your facebook page, or selecting a music player or banner below and posting it to your blog or website.  This really makes a difference and helps bring my music to a wider audience, so thanks in advance.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and hope to see you soon!

February News

Some exciting updates this month as we prepare to venture beyond OC to share our music to a wider audience.   The indie music incubator known as the International Pop Overthrow Festival has added us to the festival lineup for its upcoming Festivals in San Diego (Feb 19 - 21) and Phoenix, AZ (Mar 5 - 7).   These will be great showcases for our original music and we’re looking forward to playing for our fans in those areas!

We have two other nights of music scheduled in south Orange County this month; Phil is playing solo at Mahe in Dana Point on Thursday Feb 18, and the whole band will perform at Stadium Brewing Company on Saturday Feb 27.    Links, details, and directions can be found below on the schedule.

We look forward to seeing you again soon,
Phil & the band.

December Update!

This Friday, December 11 will be our final Trio gig at Mahe for 2009.  Chris, Jim and I would like to thank all of our friends who have come to see us perform this year at our favorite restaurant in Dana Point.  We’ll have a few CD and merch giveaways and much fun as usual - hope you will join us in celebrating the Holidays!

Then on Saturday, December 19, the band will make its debut at The Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest, one of Orange County’s best venues for showcasing indie bands.  We’ll be playing a one-hour set featuring songs off the new CD ‘The Long Path’ and last year’s release ‘Automatic August.’    If you missed the band’s opening set at the Coach House in late Nov., or were there and enjoyed the show, you’ll for sure want to catch this show.

Phil was recently featured in the Orange County Register twice, once announcing his band’s show at the Coach House, and again in connection with the recent fundraising event for Acres of Love, a very important organization that is supporting children in South Africa.  Here is the link to the recent article in case you missed it.    http://www.ocregister.com/news/music-219690-song-love.html&ct=ga&cd=D5EajfCjmog&usg=AFQjCNEQY_5vY7qhecEhoilhB_QmZCTCJg

If you are now starting to consider plans for New Year’s Eve, Phil and the band have been asked to perform at a New Years Eve party at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Fullerton.  Just sayin’…  This promises to be a real blowout, and the organizers have thought of everything.  Here is the e-vite link in case you are interested.    http://www.evite.com/pages/invite/viewInvite.jsp?inviteId=NASJGLCQILZNMODAFRRV&li=iq&src=email&trk=aei6

Thanks again for all your support this year, enjoy the holidays and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

IPO shows this weekend, album release & new site!

This weekend marks the official CD release of “The Long Path,” a new full-length album I recorded with the help of producer Andrew Alekel (Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer, Matt Costa) over the past several months in Hollywood at Grandmaster Recorders.

You can listen to songs from the album on the newly revamped website – http://philvandermost.com, and of course you can order a copy through the site.  Links will posted in a few days to iTunes and other digital purchase options.

To mark the occasion of the release, my band is performing a pair of shows – at 7:30 pm Saturday night in Huntington Beach, and Sunday at 11:45 am on the Main Mall Stage at the Orange County Fairgrounds.   Both sets are in conjunction with the International Pop Overthrow Festival – Los Angeles.   We’ll have copies of the new album and other merchandise available, so hope to see you at one of these.

Please plan on giving the CD a listen, and hope to see you at an upcoming show.   The album is dedicated to you - thank you for supporting our performances and my music!

Update on the New Album - it’s almost here!

Very excited to announce that my new album, titled “The Long Path” will be released on July 25 on iTunes, Napster and Amazon, as well as in CD format from Not Lame Records.  I will sell copies on my website also, of course.   The 11-song disc is produced by Andrew Alekel, a fantastic producer/engineer (google him and be amazed by what he’s worked on.)

The songs on the album, basically a love letter to my family and friends, are the result of about 8 months of writing and demo-ing.   I recorded everything at Grandmaster Recorders in Hollywood with the help of former Greenwich Meantime bandmates Nick Hoffman (drums) and Scott Vonkaenel (bass guitar.)   We started the recording process the day after I got back from the Coachella Music Festival, and finished mastering on June 8.

Grandmaster is the studio Andrew runs, and it proved to be a great working studio with fabulous acoustic spaces and mind-blowing vintage gear.    Some amazing records have been made there, such as ‘Color and the Shape’ by Foo Fighters, ‘Shake Your Money Maker’ by the Black Crowes, Beck’s ‘Midnight Vultures’ and others - which added more than a bit of inspiration.

The first copies of ‘The Long Path’ will be available on July 25 at my CD release party, coinciding with sets at the ‘09 International Pop Overthrow Festival - LA.   I’ll be performing with my band Saturday night July the 25th at Fitzgeralds in Huntington Beach as part of an 8-band lineup and then at the Orange County Fairgrounds the following day around noon along with a full line-up of more indie pop/rock bands.  Exact set times to be announced very soon.

There are several clips of the new songs on my myspace and facebook music pages, please check ‘em out and stay tuned for the release of the record.  Thanks & much love.

Cheers,
Phil

Hello from the Studio!

Last week, we finished basic tracks for 11 new songs for my new album, to be released this summer.   Andrew Alekel (whose many engineering and production credits include Foo Fighters, No Doubt, Weezer, Jack Johnson, Devendra Banhart and Matt Costa) is producing and engineering the new record, done at Grandmaster Recording Ltd.

The studio is somewhat legendary - built in the 60’s - and the birthplace of records such as ‘Shake Your Moneymaker’ by the Black Crowes, No Doubts’ ‘Tragic Kingdom” and ‘Midnight Vultures’ by Beck, to name just a few.  I am obviously stoked to be doing all of this name dropping, but even more so about the new songs and for all of you to listen once the album’s done!

Stay tuned for more news about the new album, and the first single release.

You can check out a new feature story about me in Coast Magazine on newsstands in May, click here for the article.
